An
Art
Factory
This project sets itself up on the relationship between a designer, and their manufacturer. So often the artist is lauded for their work, when somewhere else in the world, a small arm of workers actually produce the art.

This project is realised within a church complex; with the artist office inhabiting the cathedral, and the workers utilising the old nunnery buildings. Both the church and surrounding buildings have been modified with additional wings, spires, towers, and walls so as to enhance the extravagance of the artists “office” and the robotic-like nature of the workers. This is obviously a loaded reading of church hierarchy, and is intentionally provocative. However the end result provides an industrial art complex that is very focused and deliberate in its intent. Moreover the building
becomes and effective gem of the edge of the block, helping anchor one of the major corners of the entire project.
