This school and market realises itself as idealised pods. Pulling from their Victorian context, the mini and abstract the period so as to create a project that is both of and distinct from its place. When viewed as a part of the street scape, they blend seamlessly with their surrounding, performing part of the qualitative background. However on closer examination these little pavilions offer more than just a historical pastiche or backdrop. On the interior they are exalted like little churches, with a well proportioned dome letting light cascade onto the sun-washed carpet. The sunken pool of red velvet provides a focal point for the room, and a place for both pupils and stalls to be contained within. Free-standing furniture populated the classroom during the school period, being able to be taken away, leaving a circular pavilion for market occasions.

This idea of a market and classroom is very much idealised, it reaches for something more then a conventional potable cubical. Hoping to provide something very special, and rather fantastical for its users, that enriches the civic landscape.
